A project requires a Commercial License if you are planning to use it for any commercial purposes and/or paid use case. Ex. 1) You are an agency and you have a contract to develop a WebAR campaign for a client; 2) You are a company building a project or integrating 8th Wall technology into your platform.
A project does not require a Commercial License if it is created for personal use or educational purposes, a work of non-commercial artistic expression, a private demo, or a sample project to showcase work to prospective clients. If you have specific licensing questions, please email licensing@8thwall.com.
For 8th Wall-hosted projects, a “view” is a request from a web browser to the 8th Wall platform when a user visits your WebAR experience. For self-hosted projects, a ”view” is a request from a web browser to the 8th Wall platform when a user visits your WebAR experience and approves permissions to initiate an AR session.
The Commercial License does not grant Licensee the right to use and access the 8th Wall Platform for projects with extreme traffic spikes, excessive hosting requirements, live support requirements, integrations into third-party platforms, or those that violate the Terms of Service. Examples of such projects include but are not limited to AR commercials in major television broadcasts, national or international championships, high visibility social media endorsements, high-traffic hologram serving, or integrations with e-commerce sites or ad or technology platforms. Projects with these requirements must discuss needs with 8th Wall and obtain an alternate license. 8th Wall reserves the right in its sole discretion to determine whether a project violates these restrictions and may require an alternative license or additional fees or may suspend service upon this determination.
Yes. Your monthly or annual plan subscription provides you and your entire team with access to the 8th Wall platform. This is billed independently of any Commercial Licenses that are purchased.
When you are ready to launch your commercial project, log into your 8th Wall account and go to your Project Dashboard. If your project type is not already set to “Commercial,” make sure to change it to “Commercial” and then click the “Purchase License” button. Accept the Commercial Use Agreement, select a Commercial License, then proceed to checkout.
Niantic VPS for Web offers a generous free tier, allowing developers to make up to 25,000 calls per month without any charges. Once a developer exceeds this limit, they will be billed starting from their 25,001st call in the first month. See more here.
Pro plan users can opt to pay $2,000 every 3 months, a savings of $100, or $3,800 every 6 months, a savings of $400, or $7,000 every 12 months, saving $1,400. Commercial licenses are recurring and will automatically renew for the period you purchased until it is canceled or reaches the scheduled end date.
When a commercial license ends the Web AR project will no longer be accessible. You can re-activate a license at a later time by purchasing a new commercial license directly in your Workspace.
Non-Commercial and non-branded experiences can be made with the Basic plan. This plan is great for students, artists, and hobbyists.
There is no difference between these plans, we wanted to highlight features that may be more applicable to gaming vs marketing, however you get access to all of these features in this plan.
