Introducing the 8th Wall x Hope for Haiti Challenge
A Fusion of Innovation and Philanthropy
In the dynamic realm of augmented reality (AR), the possibilities are limitless. Today, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the 8th Wall x Hope for Haiti Challenge, a platform for developers to showcase their ingenuity and contribute to the evolution of immersive experiences. What makes this challenge truly exceptional is our collaboration with Hope for Haiti, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving lives in Haiti. This collaboration extends beyond the realm of technology, as we join hands to raise funds for their ambitious new Healthcare Campus. We’re aiming for 1,000 donations of any monetary value and we can’t wait to see the awesome experiences you develop!
The Challenge Awaits, Let’s Begin!
The challenge will be kicked off by our Info + Ideation event on October 3, where you’ll get the opportunity to hear more about Hope for Haiti directly from their CEO, Skyler Badenoch along with Sarah Porter. Followed by that will be the Cre8te Workshop led by XR Designer Josh Mao of Niantic. He will walk you through best practices to create a seamless storytelling experience with a call for donations. Finally, we will be joined by our good friends at Groove Jones as their co-founder Dan Fergusion talks about how they’ve used 8th Wall for experiences in the nonprofit world.
Chances to win prizes totaling $15K
The 8th Wall x Hope for Haiti Grand Prize of $5,000 will be awarded to the entry with the best overall submission covering the criteria of Storytelling, Best use of 8th Wall, Hope for Haiti’s mission, and completeness. In addition to the Grand Prize, we will also choose 3 other winners for the following categories: Hope for Haiti Mission, designed with Hope for Haiti assets and points to the new Healthcare Campus, Best Original Storytelling, recognizing the best immersive storytelling experience who seamlessly calls for donations, and Most Aspirational, to the experience that successfully integrates more than one 8th Wall feature. It doesn’t stop there - the public will vote for 1 community favorite for a $1,000 prize and three Honorable mentions will win $1,000 each.
Join the challenge by registering here. Projects must be submitted by November 6th at 11:59pm PST, and winners will be announced on November 10th.
We can’t wait to see what you create!
