ALDI SÜD delights Christmas shoppers in Germany with WebAR activation 

ALDI SÜD brought the spirit of Christmas to the skies above Germany’s iconic holiday markets with a magical mixed reality campaign leveraging 8th Wall’s powerful Sky Effects technology. 

 

From December 11-24, shoppers at Christmas markets in Munich, Cologne, and Düsseldorf could transform the sky into a winter wonderland by simply scanning a QR code on large, centrally installed posters. The QR code scan seamlessly activates an engaging and unforgettable web-based augmented reality (WebAR) experience. 

Shoppers are transported into a virtual snow globe with the tap of a finger and pointing their smartphone cameras to the sky. The experience transforms the sky into a canvas with Santa and his reindeer flying across the screen, Christmas-themed constellations, and falling snow activated by simply shaking the phone. This immersive experience leverages 8th Wall's groundbreaking Sky Effects technology, turning the sky into a canvas for placing AR content.

The campaign extended from the physical experience at the holiday markets to the digital world across social media, newsletters, and the company’s website. ALDI SÜD partnered with &AND Innovation for this magical and innovative brand activation.

Nespresso Canada uses WebAR to get coffee drinkers into the festive holiday spirit 

Nespresso brewed up a delightful surprise for coffee enthusiasts with an augmented reality twist to their annual coffee advent calendar. Developed by Thinkingbox and envisioned by McCann Canada, the ARt of the Escape activation uses WebAR to turn the daily coffee unboxing experience into a virtual escape to a winter wonderland — inspired by this year’s box design of a winter mountain landscape.

 

Exclusive to the Canadian market, this WebAR experience invites coffee lovers to unlock the magic of their advent calendars with 24 unique AR experiences. By scanning the accompanying QR-code cardlet, users can discover exclusive content, recipes and gift ideas. The advent calendar is further brought to life with daily animations that include everything from a charming chalet in the woods to a playful white dog inspiring winter activities, and even a caribou with a festive touch.

Vodafone unlocks holiday joy with its Elf and Seek AR Campaign

For the second consecutive year, Vodafone is making spirits bright with the "Elf and Seek" campaign, an AR game that spreads joy and gives back. Created by Dentsu UK&I, this festive game allows participants across the U.K. to catch digital elves for a chance to win exciting prizes, including Nintendo Switch consoles, a trip to Tenerife in the Canary Islands and more. The game also enables players to donate SIM cards to those in need as part of Vodafone's "everyone.connected" campaign.

 

As the Elf and Seek fun continues in 2023, shoppers can scan QR codes on Ocean Outdoor's interactive screens at Westfield London, Media Wall in Liverpool, Printworks in Manchester, and The Screen in Nottingham for even more elf-catching opportunities. Over 60,000 prizes are up for grabs, making this a season of joy and generosity with Vodafone.

But that’s not all – eager shoppers can even virtually preview the latest offerings in the women's fashion line, adding a touch of glamor to their Elf and Seek adventure. Last year, the Elf and Seek game captivated the hearts of over 245,000 players, resulting in the capture of a staggering 270,000 elves.

Vodafone partnered with Web3 engagement and loyalty platform SmartMedia Technologies for the Elf and Seek campaign, powered by 8th Wall. The game will run from now until Dec. 24.

E.L.F. Beauty invites beauty lovers to step into the holiday rhythm with AR-enabled mural

Just in time for the holiday season, E.L.F. BEAUTY is bringing the incredibly talented UK-artist Meduulla and her e.l.f. inspired track to life with three audio-enhanced AR Mural experiences. 

 

Beauty lovers in London, Birmingham, and Manchester will be able to go on a journey of (s)e.l.f.-expression by scanning the AR enabled murals. Once scanned, the mural comes to life, allowing users to groove to Meduulla’s e.l.f.-inspired words and take pictures to share with friends or on social media.

This WebAR experience was developed by Aircards in partnership with Wavemaker, Southpaw, Kinetic, and E.L.F. BEAUTY. It also uses 8th Wall’s Image Target technology to seamlessly integrate the augmented reality experience with each mural, ensuring a smooth and captivating interaction for beauty lovers.

Jameson invites customers to connect with friends and loved ones in a new way with its Virtual AR Tree game

For its second year in a row, Jameson is inviting people to "widen the circle" and connect with friends and loved ones in a new way with its Virtual AR Tree game.

 

To play the game, users simply place a Jameson virtual tree into their world and then watch and repeat the color sequences to earn as high a score as possible. Once the game has been completed, users can enter a prize draw to win a Jameson 12-day Advent Calendar, a Jameson Christmas Jumper or a Bow St. Cocktail Making Class for themselves and three friends. If the user is selected as the lucky prize winner, they then have the option to keep the gift for themselves or gift it to a friend.
