White Castle collaborated with Coca-Cola to introduce collectible augmented reality cups to celebrate its 100th birthday

White Castle is turning 100 this year and to mark this huge achievement they have collaborated with Coca-Cola, a partner since their beginning in 1921, to introduce three collectible augmented reality soft drink cups. Customers use their smartphone to bring the 100th Birthday AR Cup to life complete with motion and sound by accessing the web-based augmented reality experience.

White Castle customers can scan limited edition cups with their phone to activate interactive Web AR experiences.

Designed by Columbus, Ohio artist Bryan Moss, the collectible cups feature major milestones in White Castle history over the past 100 years as comic book scenes. Customers scan the cup with their smartphone and then aim at the different scenes around the cup to bring them to life. Founder, Billy Ingram, is featured and animated in AR with original recording of his voice to share a bit of White Castle history with consumers. Scenes also celebrate major moments in White Castle’s history including when White Castle’s famous sliders became available in grocery stores in 1987 and when they introduced the Cravers Hall of Fame in 2001. Customers can easily become a member of White Castle’s Craver Nation loyalty program to get access to deals and share the AR Birthday cup experience with friends directly from within WebAR.
