2024 marks 150 years since Western apple saplings arrived in Shinshu. To honor this milestone, Shinano Mainichi Newspaper is launching the "Apples and a Carbon-Free Future – GO! Zero Carbon" campaign, starting on Nagano Prefecture's Apple Day, November 22. The campaign combines sustainability with interactivity, inviting everyone to take eco-friendly actions and protect Shinshu apples for generations to come.
Through AR, participants can visualize their eco-actions. Each contribution becomes a virtual apple growing on a 3D tree, accessible by scanning a QR code from the newspaper or visiting a special website. The tree will reappear in January, showing the collective impact of everyone’s efforts as a bountiful apple harvest.
The campaign includes live Shinshu apple sales events in Tokyo and Matsumoto, fostering deeper appreciation for apples while encouraging carbon-neutral behaviors. Together, let’s grow a greener future!
